Native Swift against Electron
Missive’s desktop app is Electron, which is the sensible choice for a team shipping to Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and the web from one codebase. Moorline ships to exactly one platform, which buys the freedom to be written against it: system controls, system materials, system colours and the system text engine.

Where the mail ends up
Both connect over IMAP, so it is easy to assume this is the same arrangement. It is not. Connects your mailbox over IMAP, syncs to their cloud, because a shared inbox needs one authoritative shared state and a server is the only place to keep it.
Moorline has no shared state to maintain, so it does not need a server, so it does not have one. The database is a single file on your Mac, backed up hourly and kept for a week. Your conversations are on your mail host and your disk, and nowhere else.
What Missive does better

Missive is already cheap. Why switch?
Price is not the argument here. Missive's Starter is $14 per user per month against Moorline's $9, which is close enough not to matter. The argument is shape: Missive is a shared inbox with team chat built in, and Moorline is a single-person workspace that tracks whether each customer has been told what happened.
What is missing from Missive Starter?
Rules, integrations and API access, which is most of what people upgrade for. The next tier up is $24 per user per month. Worth checking against your own list before treating the entry price as the price.
Both connect over IMAP. Is that the same thing?
Not quite. Missive connects your mailbox and syncs it into their cloud, which is how a team sees one shared state. Moorline connects over IMAP and keeps its database in a file on your Mac, so it works offline and no Moorline server holds your conversations. Same protocol, different destination.
Does Moorline have team chat?
No. Missive puts team chat next to the inbox so colleagues can discuss a thread without email. Moorline has nothing equivalent, because it is built for one person and a chat with yourself is a notes field.
